Hello. I grew up on a cargo ship in the Mediterranean Sea. Not literally, obviously. Not like, right in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea (a tricky word to spell in your head by the way), but sort of travelling from one country to another through it. Spain, France, Italy, Greece etc. When I was about 10 my Mum decided I had to go to school. We happened to be in Spain at the time. This kind of sucked to be honest. Firstly, there were other kids there. And other kids aren't half as nice to you as grown ups who live on boats hanging out in the Mediterranean. Some of them were nice, obviously, but not all the time, if you know what I mean. Secondly, there was homework. I don't even need to tell anyone how much that sucked. And then there was wearing shoes and a uniform. Wearing shoes really sucks if you haven't had to wear them much before. Especially those horrible balck, clunky things that schools want you to wear. Oh, and I forgot to mention that everyone spoke Spanish which is completely and utterly like listening to gibberish if you only speak English. And then when I was 12 I got sent to a boarding school in Kent, which is in England. That really, really sucked. Particularly as I'd just figured out how to speak Spanish! So when I was 13, I sort of ran away and then I got carted off to another boarding school in Spain. Suck City. And it sort of went on like that until I had my own kids and started telling them stories and then started writing them down. |
